If you experience the above error, please try the following:

win4Uninstall on a Microsoft Windows system

There are two ways in which S-Gear can be uninstalled from your Windows system.

  1. From the Windows Control Panel select Uninstall a program.  Select S-GEAR from the list of installed program, then click theUninstall option.
  2. Double click on the original S-GEAR setup file and follow instructions to remove S-GEAR.

The uninstall process will not remove your S-GEAR license or User Presets.

Lastly, please install the latest version of S-Gear from the following page: Everything Bundle Installers

apple-bwUninstall on a MAC OS X system

To uninstall S-GEAR from your MAC OS X system, you can download and run the following uninstall script.  Download the zip file and double click to unpack.  Double click uninstall_sgear.sh to execute the script.  You will need to enter your administrator password to complete the process. The uninstall script will remove and unregister all S-GEAR components.  It will not remove your S-GEAR license or User Presets.

Alternatively you can manually delete individual items.  Please see the Files and Folders page for a list of items created on your machine. The main components are as follows:

/Applications/S-Gear
/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components/S-GearAU2.component
/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3/SGear2.vst3
/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins/SGearAAX.aaxplugin

To preserve user data, our un-installers will not remove some files from your computer. Occasionally, these files can cause problems when updating to a newer version of the plugin. We'll need to manually remove them to see if they are causing the problems you are experiencing.

Go to /Library/Application Support/Scuffham Amps.

If you have created user presets, make a backup of them and delete the Scuffham Amps folder.

Afterwards, please install the latest version of S-Gear from the following page: Everything Bundle Installers

Lastly, please ensure permissions are set to "read and write" for the following location:

HD/Library/Application Support/Scuffham Amps

Be sure to "apply changes to enclosed items". Image below for clarification.
